THE LIECHTENSTEIN
PHILANTHROPY TALKS

The Liechtenstein Philanthropy Talks are an initiative of the Center for Philanthropy at the University of Liechtenstein.

With the Philanthropy Talks, we want to inspire reflection and action, shed light on important aspects of philanthropy and be informative on current debates surrounding endowment, giving and engagement.

The starting point for the Philanthropy Talks was a series of podcasts on volunteering in Liechtenstein published by the Center in 2022.

THE CENTER
FOR PHILANTHROPY

We see ourselves as an academic centre of excellence, a pioneer for practice and a bridge builder between different stakeholders in the field of philanthropy.

At the University of Liechtenstein, we combine contemporary research with practice-oriented knowledge transfer. In addition to academic teaching at the Business Law School of the University, the Center offers further education for practitioners from foundations and philanthropy in collaboration with relevant partners.

LIECHTENSTEIN AS A PHILANTHROPY LOCATION

The Principality of Liechtenstein offers the best conditions worldwide for philanthropic commitment – this is a finding from the Global Philanthropy Environment Index of the Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
A lean and flexible foundation law, a modern non-profit law, international openness and short official channels characterise the location.
With more than 1,400 charitable foundations and only about 38,000 inhabitants, Liechtenstein has the highest foundation density in not only Europe, but the world. Commitment to society has a long tradition in Liechtenstein and is deeply rooted in the community; as evidenced by the more than 550 non-profit associations in Liechtenstein and a widespread neighbourly commitment outside of organised structures. Liechtenstein is thus increasingly establishing itself as a popular location for philanthropists from all over the world.

INFORMED AND INSPIRED

Life experience, creativity, time …. Those who engage in philanthropy, seeking to do good and give back, often contribute much more than financial resources. The nine inspirations convey the essential foundations regarding goals, forms, strategies, and the effectiveness of your very own philanthropic journey.
